OVERVIEW

The Alliance for Downtown New York or 'Downtown Alliance' has been serving the residents, visitors, and workers of Lower Manhattan since 1995. The Downtown Alliance's major initiatives revolve around providing a "clean, safe, and dynamic neighborhood."

My partnership with the Downtown Alliance redesign began with a complete website redesign using the Drupal 7 CMS. Our goal was to better showcase all of Lower Manhattan's offerings, from its many restaurants and storefronts to business assistance programs, helpful interactive maps and guides, special local events, news, and research and statistics.

Our focus was first to audit all existing content and business listing data to create integration strategies and determine what content would be defined as 'listings.' Then we worked on site mapping, wireframing, style tiles, and page template designs, all with several client feedback rounds. It was essential to making the site user-friendly across all devices as the website would become a trusted resource for all those that live, work, and play in Lower Manhattan.

I designed and partnered with the development team on the following website features:

Interactive Mapping with custom design utilizing the Google Maps API
Filterable Event Calendar
Custom Forms (i.e., Submit an Event)
Social Feed and Video Integration with Custom Branding
Searchable archive of research and statistics
'My Visit Planner' tool which allows users to browse and curate a personalized list of events, retail locations, restaurants, and other destinations
Maps and Guides Online Ordering - users easily browse offerings of printed maps, guides, and resources. Users can build a cart, enter their shipping details, and quickly order these resources to be delivered by the Downtown Alliance.
